After trying to figure out the partial products method, I asked for back up! Ms. Black (4th Grade) sent me this link that is FANTASTIC. Once you are on the Everyday Math site, click on the FREE RESOURCES button. Once on the Free Resources page, click on algorithm handbook animations. The videos will walk you through all that “new” math. What a find! Thank you Ms. Black!

Directory Deadline is Friday!

Please note that if you want your child’s information to appear in this year’s PTA Directory, you must complete the PTA Directory Information Form and returned to school by Friday, September 23, 2011. If you need a new form, you can print a copy off of Virtual Backpack on the Oak Ridge School website. All forms received after the deadline will not make it into the directory. If you have any questions, please email me at kelly.a.brady@comcast.net. An electronic copy of the directory will be sent to you in the next week or two.

Hello Oak Ridge families!
I tried to get the newsletter distributed in school today but the Xerox Gods had other plans for it. It will be sent home in backpacks to the youngest child in each family on Monday/Tuesday. Here is it as a pdf which you can open and print at home if you need the scoop ahead of all the other moms:) Enjoy the weekend!

The ORPTA will be hosting a fun-filled event called BoooFest! On Friday, October 28th from 6PM-8PM, bring your trick or treaters in costume to school for a carnival experience! Save the date! Tickets will be on sale shortly!

Here are some important dates……
Monday, 9/12 ~ Kindergarten Orientation, Come to school with your children, get answers to questions and the kids get to ride the school bus and visit their classrooms. Call the school office for times.
Tuesday, 9/13 ~ First day of Kindergarten
Thursday, 9/14 ~ Power of One Assemblies, a PTA sponsored event
Open House, Parents only
Monday, 9/19 grades K-4 from 6-8PM
Tuesday, 9/20 grades 5-8 from 6-8:45PM
